What is it?
Through the power of community engagement through creative workshops, four stunning projection artworks were created in collaboration with community groups based in the Merri-Bek area. These incredible works of art were showcased in a 12-month program at the open-air gallery in the 260 Sydney Road pocket park managed by the Merri-Bek City Council. The project aimed to represent and celebrate underrepresented groups, working in partnership with community organisations. By utilising co-design principles, the project created a safe and supportive environment for participants to explore meaningful topics and creative concepts, resulting in a truly inspirational display of public art.
The process involves a co-design workshop to determine who, how, when, where, and what
The next step is a development workshop to conceptualise and experiment with ideas
A media creation workshop is then conducted, which involves hands-on production using specialist creative tools
After that, a post-production workshop is held, where participants edit the site-specific art projection and watch the draft
Finally, a final post-production adjustments workshop is conducted where the work is edited based on the draft
