What is it?

Little Projector Company proposed, designed, mentored, facilitated, created, and delivered The Hume Winter Lights Festival 2023 projection program. The program showcased a spectacular display of creativity through 10 site-specific art projections. These projections were the result of 10 participatory projects that brought the community together to contribute their unique perspectives and ideas. By dividing the resources and projections into three categories of participatory projects, the festival was able to meet the strategic priorities of the Hume Creative Community Strategy for 2020-25.

Who participated?

The Hume Council team handpicked talented artists and collectives from the local area and invited them to take part in innovative projects. These projects aimed to nurture and develop the skills of emerging, mid-career, and established artists alike. Every step of the creative process was guided by a professional artist and mentor, with the added support of a skilled AV technician. They worked together to inspire and encourage the participants to unlock their full creative potential. Little Projector Company follows their tried and tested workflow for the facilitation and creation of collaborative site-specific art projections:

• Co-design workshop: Who? How? When? Where? What?

• Development workshop: Conceptual development and experimentation

• Media creation workshop: Hands-on production using specialist creative tools 

• Post-production workshop: Editing the site-specific art projection

• On site testing: Seeing the work in situ and learning from the testing

• Final post-production adjustments workshop: Editing the work based on the site testing learning
